Help Your Community Be Heard

The Flood Control District of Maricopa County is updating the Gilbert-Chandler Area Drainage Master Study/Plan (ADMS/P). But what exactly is an ADMS/P, and why is this update so important?

Understanding an Area Drainage Master Study/Plan

An ADMS/P is a detailed study that examines how water flows during storms and helps communities manage stormwater runoff. It also looks at ways to protect property, infrastructure, and natural habitats affected by drainage systems.

Why Update the Gilbert-Chandler ADMS/P?

The current plan, completed in 1993, covered about 152 square miles of southeastern Maricopa County.

In the past 30 years, dramatic changes have reshaped the region. Updating this plan ensures the latest data and techniques are used to:

  • Identify flood-prone areas
  • Understand how flooding hazards and drainage systems have changed
  • Plan for the future with modern solutions
Why Does This Matter?

The updated study will:

  1. Guide future projects – Identify and budget for drainage improvements.
  2. Empower residents – Help property owners understand flood risks and how to reduce them.
  3. Save money – Recommend flood management practices that could cut costs for communities and residents.

How Can You help?

Local knowledge is key! The study team needs input from residents to identify areas with known flooding problems.

  • Take Action: Visit our interactive map, answer one quick question, and mark any flooding issues you’ve experienced.
  • Spread the Word: Share this information with neighbors and community members to ensure all voices are heard.

Every pin dropped and piece of feedback helps build a safer, better-prepared community.
